“Remember Genocide"

In Batumi continues event entitled “Remember Genocide" devoted to Genocide Remembrance Day.

On April 23, in connection with 97th anniversary of Armenian Genocide,in Batumi church “Surb Prkich” was held a requiem headed by Pastor Ararat Gumbalyan, by the end of which near the stone-cross members of youth organization "Mer Apagan” organized a candle burning ceremony.

On April 24 in Batumi church “Surb Prkich” Armenian people gathered to remember victims of the 20th century’s first Genocide. The holy liturgy was hold and later near the stone-cross memorial wreaths and flowers were laid. On the ceremony the staff of the Consulate General of Republic of Armenia to Batumi, members of Adjarian community organizations and large audience were present.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Consul General in Batumi Garik Israelian, “Surb Prkich” church Pastor Ararat Gumbalyan and many armenians of Adjara once again emphasized the importance of the fight against denial of Turkish genocide and sentencing.

On the same day in Batumi, in the “House of Friendship" the rewiew of documentary film about the genocide took place, which attended by many representatives of local community organizations.
